Meet Trevor Deed, Owner of Deed's BBQ
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Trevor Deed, the owner of Deed's BBQ. Trevor shared with me how he got started in the BBQ business. It all began back in 2010 when he and his father came up with the idea for a food truck specializing in slow-smoked barbecue and house-made sides. Over the years, the business has evolved and expanded, with different ownership and new ideas. Today, Deed's BBQ boasts three locations in Toledo: the Maumee store on Connaught Street, the Perrysburg grocery store on Route 20, and the Oregon store in the bar. In addition to their brick-and-mortar locations, Deed's BBQ also operates three food trucks that can be found at various festivals, fairs, graduation parties, catering, and weddings throughout the year.
Tips from a BBQ Expert
Aspiring pitmasters take note! When asked if he had any tips for those looking to perfect their BBQ skills, Trevor humbly admitted that he doesn't consider himself an expert. However, he did share some insights into what makes Deed's BBQ so delicious. The key, according to Trevor, is using high-quality meat, good seasoning, and cooking at low temperatures for a slow and flavorful result. No secret marinades or injections here, just simple, honest BBQ.
Customer Favorites and Must-Try Dishes
With a menu full of mouthwatering options, it's hard to pick just one customer favorite at Deed's BBQ. They offer plates and platters that allow customers to choose a sandwich, a side, a side salad with cornbread, and more. However, Trevor mentioned that the personal sampler is a popular choice among customers. It includes three meats, two sides, cornbread, and gives diners a chance to sample a variety of flavors.
When it comes to specific dishes, Deed's BBQ is known for their award-winning ribs. These fall-off-the-bone ribs have earned them a reputation for excellence. Another standout item on the menu is the BBQ nachos. Made with locally sourced corn chips, house-made queso, lettuce, tomato, and onion, these nachos are a fan favorite.
Don't Forget Dessert!
No meal is complete without a sweet ending, and Deed's BBQ has you covered with its delicious peach cobbler. Made with fresh peaches and a buttery, crumbly topping, this dessert is the perfect way to finish off your BBQ feast.
